Mandays Photography group is based at a resource centre for homeless people and those living with mental distress. The centre is jointly managed by Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and Brighter Futures Housing. Friday was identified as a day of activities for men.
Tony Jones set up the photography group in 2007, voluntarily running sessions every week since then covering a wide range of topics. Over thirty different men have taken part over the years. More than 10 other experienced photographers have supported Tony by leading activities regularly.
The participants developed their confidence and skills resulting in them negotiating their own exhibitions and having success in photography competitions and selling their work.
We took part in a photography workshop with some of the men from the group during the study trip, sharing our skills.
