Spare Tyre is a participatory arts company, which creates theatre with voiceless communities. They currently work with people aged 60+, adults with learning disabilities, and women who have experienced sexual violence. They deliver workshops and create performances as well as share their learning within the wider community.
Spare Tyre has been active in London for a number of years and has used a range of approaches to work with communities. They work with communities, artists, and staff to ensure their approach is disseminated within the communities they work with.
We got involved in some workshops with two different groups, involving movement, drama, and music. Participants form a company and work closely with artists who help facilitate the session.
