The second study trip took place in Lithuania in the Dzūkija region between June 20th and June 25th 2011. Project participants visited Kaunas, Vilkija, Alytus, Druskininkai and Vilnius.

We started Tuesday with the evaluation of all our Monday activities.
While we were discussing our experiences and thoughts, our bus was heading to Vilkija. After the arrival we visited the Juškai Museum, where we spent some time listening to Vida Sniečkuvienė who worked there. After great breakfats in “Punios Aidas” all participants gone to Cultural centre of Birštonas and met a centre director Zigmas Vileikis there. Zigmas told us about gaps and possibilities in Birštonas town and how they solving all problems. This morning’s work was spent in two sites. The first was to see the Jonynas Gallery, and an exhibition of this Lithuanian artist’s work. Working in the mediums of paint, sculpture and stained glass, he emigrated from Lithuania in 1951 and worked mainly in the USA from that point. His decorative stained glass was a personal highlight.

Project participants come from three countries: Lithuania, Poland and United Kingdom. Each of the six study trips will be a possibility to do research, explore, learn and practice community arts and culture animation.
